Caravan Life - Bigriggen

We did a mini trip to Bigriggen Camping Grounds - Thursday night to Sunday.  This trip serves two purposes, besides a mini get away, it also means I am a little closer to Busy Bee Patchwork in Stanthorpe. Julie, the owner, has been quilting a couple of my quilt tops and they were ready to be picked up.  We arrived at the park close to dark so it was decided on a quick and easy dinner - Toasted cheese Turkish Bread sounds good.

Friday morning we rose early to enjoy our morning cuppa while watching the sun rise and to listen to the birds sing their morning songs.  Wow were they happy - so many songs being heard from every direction.

We were then joined by the local kangaroos..  They kept coming closer to the van and I commented at one stage that I would move back inside if the big male came any nearer..
We headed off to Stanthorpe, travelling along a road that was off the beaten track - we didn't see another car in any direction for about two hours.  It was a lovely area - very natural and unpopulated.  There were dirt roads for about half of the trek but that was ok as we had Wayne's ute and not my little car.  We stopped for brekky as soon as we arrived in Stanthorpe and then picked up my quilts.  I won't show them until a later post - one is a gift and the other, well, I just don't have a photo of it yet..
Saturday had us visiting The Shed for morning tea and a little shopping..

I picked up some pretty paper serviettes and a jar of spicy tomato chutney for Wayne.  So many things could come home with me but I left them for my next visit..
I love our little get aways - I always manage to get some sewing done and this time, I found time to write to three penpals.  Wayne did a little metal detecting - tally for this trip is $117 dollars, one dog tag, one penny, no jewellery.. Not a bad haul at all..

cheers

Caravan Holiday - Stanthorpe

We mini break out to Stanthorpe - the true reason for the trip is to drop off some quilt tops to Julie and to collect a couple of finished ones.

Walking around town had us finding murals and arty things - we are always drawn to these and love coming across them..

Do you think someone deliberately put the yellow bin under the yellow dressed person and the same for the red?

I love this mosaic - I took some closer photos to show off the details but I would need to have taken so many to show off everything.  You will just need to be happy with a couple of close ups.

We headed up to the look out to watch the sunset and eat our dinner...nothing exciting for dinner - Red Rooster tonight and no, I did not enjoy it.  I have no idea why we eat at some places when we know we don't really like their foods.  Anyhow the sunset was gorgeous..

We ventured to the local markets to see what interesting items need to come home with us..
The markets were held at the town called Wallangarra, at the railway station.  The railway station sits on the border for NSW and QLD.  It is also home to a museum and cafe..  Not what we were expecting but a nice surprise..

Amy has been up to again - I open my wallet and find I have a stow away - these characters keep turning up when unexpected... just remember Amy, revenge is sweet.  lol

One the way back to Stanthorpe, we called into Jamworks - had morning tea and made a purchase or two..

Lily came with us on our holiday, she always enjoys the caravan and thinks it is her house... sometimes a little too comfortable...

My purchases from the weekend .

We had another fabulous weekend and it has been lovely playing tourist in a town that is not too far away.. I am always surprised by what one can find when venturing around a small town..  We live in a wonderful country..
Cheers
