Home Free

Hubby and I went to see one of our favourite bands - Home Free and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves..
They have only been in Australia once before but we were unable to see them on that occasion, so there was no way we were going to miss them this time round..
The concert was held at The Triffid - now I must confess, I did not like this venue.  I have been to quite a few concerts and even though this venue was built particularly for bands, we found no seating to be a bit of a pain..  I must be getting too old, cause I do like to sit down when I want..
I would definitely see Home Free again, I just hope it's is at a different venue next time..

The lovely De and her hubby, Greg joined us on the night...
Pre-show drinks....
Love these lights....

The beer garden...

These guys were brilliant and will definitely see them again in the future..

It's A Start - 2020 maybe wish list....

I have considered what I want to accomplish this year and my plans so far include some of the following..
The Farmer's Wife Book has been found hiding in the cupboard and so I going to put this one on my mental list of UFO's for this year...

Not a bad start for this quilt - I have completed the first 6 blocks - I'm hoping to do at least four blocks a month...
I have also decided to start the Lori Holt stitch-a-long - Vintage Housewife - my first block for this week has been completed..

I have a couple of Natalie Bird stitcheries completed.. Hopefully the rest will be finished this year...

In a christmas swap I was given this little project which I have now completed - Thanks Lyn, it was fun to make...

My sunflowers blossomed beautifully.....
Some flowers from the garden..
Today was the first day for Aqua Aerobics at the local pool - very fun but I think I may pay for it later - it was such a good workout...
Well that's all - a couple of UFO's for 2020, some stitching, garden stuff and healthy activities - that sounds like a good balanced start for the year..

A Cracker of a Swap

I participated in a little swap that Madaboutbags from Instagram ran over christmas.  I chose to do the cracker swap - with this swap you needed a cardboard roll from the kitchen.. and you fill it with anything, then wrap it in a fat quarter and send it off..
After signing up, I experienced my only problem - No paper towel roll in the kitchen or centre from cling wrap etc..  I had to go to the shops and buy a roll, come home and unroll it, while wrapping the paper towel back up missing the internal cardboard roll....  Mental note to self - save one before December...
Anyhow after acquiring my roll, I filled it with bits and pieces and sent it off, and you guessed - no photo..  I will have to wait until my swap partner puts one up..
I saved mine for opening on Christmas Day.. I do have this photo of the one I sent and the one I received...  The one I sent is the top photo...

My cracker was crammed packed with all these items..  My partner managed to get a zipper pouch, christmas buttons, pattern/kit, binding clips, cake buttons, a magnetic lidded bottle with needles inside and a magnetic needle finder, as well as the gorgeous christmas fabric...
Here is a close up of the pattern/kit..

This was an easy swap as you didn't need to make anything and you were not allowed to add external extras or change the shape of your original roll...  I will definitely participate in this swap again..
Thanks Lyn..

Welcome 2020

I have had a fantastic start to the year - I've been on holidays at Rainbow Beach and I have done a little stitching and I have caught up with my kids and grandkids..  Yep all in all, a pretty good start to the year...  I have so many plans for this year, some involving my health, some involving sewing projects, and some even involving tinkering with our home (decorating, renovations etc)..  The only think I haven't done this year is caught up with my friends...I will admit I miss them - the laughter and chats and of course, the coercion into starting new projects, but that will happen soon I hope..

The start of my year began with a holiday to Rainbow Beach with hubby, eldest daughter and her hubby and my grandkids...

Not one to stay up late and watch the year end, we are more of the - wake up early to meet the new year kinda people..   Even though the clouds threatened our seeing the sunrise, we still managed to enjoy the morning..

We spent alot of time on the beach, exploring the coloured sands - I love Mother Nature, she has an awesome way to remind everyone how beautiful the world is...

The night-time found us exploring this little coastal town...

A few toys to play with...

Exploring the old hut, which I might add had some spectacular views...and an interesting toilet (one of THOSE types - lol)..

Great holiday and I will add some photo's of my sewing attempts in my next post..
cheers
